Explore  the Caves of Nerja

Las Cuevas de Nerja are a series of naturally formed caves and caverns in the hills of Maro, 4km North-East of Nerja, some of which have taken up to two million years to form. The caves contain the widest naturally-formed column in the world, formed by the merging of a stalagmite and stalactite, it has held the Guinness World Record since 1989. The caves also famously host the annual Nerja International Festival of Music and Dance. A visit to these caves is a truly unique experience. Miguel Joven on a private tour after the Caves close for general public will show the best kept secret and history of the caves.

Natural Parks

The Natural Park made up of the three mountain ranges of the Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama is located directly north of Nerja and offers plenty of opportunities for walkers, climbers and photographers to get more than just a beach holiday from a visit to the town.

The Natural Cliffs of Maro-Cerro Gordo form a narrow strip parallel to the coast, which is twelve kilometers wide and penetrates a mile into the sea. Inland it is limited by the road axis of the N-340 road. Its marine fauna is a sample of the richness and diversity of the space: invertebrates - sponges, corals, anemones, echinoderms and molluscs - and crustaceans - shrimp, spider crabs and lobsters. Of particular importance are the existence of important populations of orange coral, which is a species catalogued as Vulnerable to Extinction.
